The work

One sitting, two hours, forty frames you will actually use

Nobody looks like themselves in the first twenty minutes. So we do not start there.

Sittings run long on purpose. Available light where possible, one head where not. You see the contact sheet, you choose, and the chosen frames are worked by hand rather than run through a preset.

What clients say

He spent the first hour talking and did not lift the camera. The picture ran for three issues.

  • My father hated being photographed. There are now four of those frames on his wall.
  • We asked for corporate portraits and got photographs of people instead. Nobody complained.
  • Not cheap, and the licence is priced separately, which took explaining internally.
  • Contact sheet in two days. Every frame worked by hand and it shows.
  • Told us plainly he does not reshape anybody. That decided it.
  • Eleven months on one documentary series and he never once asked us to extend the budget.

  1. What does the price include?

The sitting, the contact sheet, the hand-worked selects and a licence written for the use you actually need rather than for everything forever.
  2. How long until I see anything?

The contact sheet within three days and the worked frames within two weeks. Editorial deadlines are met on the deadline, not near it.
  3. Why is licensing priced separately?

Because a portrait for a family wall and a portrait for a national campaign are the same work and very different value. Pricing them the same would overcharge one of you.
  4. Do you retouch?

Frames are worked by hand: exposure, contrast, colour, and anything genuinely temporary. We do not reshape faces or bodies and will say so before you book.
  5. Can I use the photographs on social media?

Yes, included in every licence. What is priced separately is advertising, packaging and anything printed at scale.
  6. Do you shoot on location?

Most of the work is on location. The studio exists for sittings that need a controlled room and for the printing, which is still done here.
